The Search for Brisket

Tonight we're having about 10 people for dinner. I've got this great recipe for a Smokey Brisket where you marinate the brisket overnight in a bunch of ingredients, the main ingredient being a bottle of Liquid Smoke. You slow bake it for 3 -4 hours in this spicy tomato sauce and it tastes great. But guess what? There's no brisket to be found in town. (Corned Beef Brisket won't work with this recipe). Here in the country we have 2 chain and 3 very upscale food stores. I got on the cell and called around after my regular meat counter guy said "it's a special order". NOBODY has a brisket at each meat counter I called. WTF? Lord knows you can find steaks and roasts for days (including a standing rib roast which is very expensive) but all I want is probably one of the lankiest cuts of meat and it's a special order? I'll BBQ a bunch of Pork Tenderloins instead. You know how it is when you're in the mood for a favorite food and can't find it.....it's frustrating.
