I just read in one of the New Yawk rags that Joan Collins is imminently due in SF and/on the Peninsula for the Dynasty (Pronounced "Dinusty" by most Brits) reunion. Doing the exterior at Filoli, no less.

If you haven't seen any pictures of La Collins lately, she's married a much younger man (30 years her junior or something along those lines) and while she's never had plastic surgery (or so she swears on a stack of Jimmy Choo stillettos) it looks like her maquillage (makeup) has been put on with a trowel and the camera man has swathed the lens with a combination of vaseline and gauze. But when you look at her age (73 this year) you gotta cut the gal some slack. At age 50 when most glamour pusses give up the bikini for the one piece, Joan's persevered and expanded. She's written novels and autobiographies (sex and marriage - marriage and sex - and sex, no marriage and marriage again), done plays, dinner theater, more television through Aaron Spelling (although his torch has certainly waned over the years).

Her portrayal of Alexis on "Dynasty" portrayed the typical Eighties Nouvelle Trash at its best and gave memorable one liners and inspiration to hundreds of Gay boys who studiously copied her fashions - the big padded shoulders, plunging decolletage, wide brimmed hats and high, high heeled shoes - parading them in drag shows from coast to coast.

So if you see our girl wandering the chic shopping areas and restaurants around town, give her a wink.  And say hi to her twink.

Joan also did a stint on Guiding Light about 4 years ago. I personally loved her work on the show. She brought a flagging character back to life just by walking on set.

Oh, I'm all confused now... die-nusty... din-asty... die-nusty... din-asty...

Oh dear, my head's spinning, I better open a bottle of Veuve and hop into the hot tub.

I used to live up the mountain from the Carrington Mansion in San Carlos.
I'm pleased that you have overcome your cellulitis. Be careful not to contract 'socialitis' with Joan!

Which is why I had to explain what is was in parenthesis because I figured most people wouldn't know what maquillage is.
