hotelbearsfI know I haven't blogged lately because basically I just haven't had time. Work has been extremely busy with 2 key people out on medical leave and while I do have some menial help, it's just not enough. So the hours have been very long, averaging 60 hours a week. Add to the equation all these last minute changes for the hotel for IBR and I've been one busy puppy. I've been good about the weekends - absolutely no work (IBR or otherwise) and have been using that time to recharge in the country and keep a very low profile.
I did get some really rotten news last week - two separate friends called to say they have terminal cancer. One's local and one's out of town but I was pretty done in emotionally and I found myself driving to the country on Friday night feeling so emotional and fragile (really rare for me) that I had to pull off the road and just had a good cry. I haven't done that in years. The weekend in the country helped a lot and I came back to town on Sunday night feeling rested and recharged.
Went out to lunch on Saturday and tried a new place called Willi's Wine Bar. It's all about "little plates" - which in Swahili means "rip off". Four people for lunch, 2 bottles of wine and "little plates" which only had 2 items on them per order came to a grand total of $175.00 before the tip. Thank goodness we had been given a $150 Gift Certificate. There's one to scratch off your list. Stayed home on Saturday night and snuggled up while watching "The Eyes of Tammy Faye". Enough said right there.
