Quiet and Relaxing Weekend
Mar. 22nd, 2004 10:52 amWent to the IBR wrap up meeting which took FOREVER on Thursday. Still it was nice to see my pals. Didn't get out until 10pm. Drove Jeff home and then went home and collapsed. I didn't feel like kicking around the Lone Star although it was starting to rock.
I'm in what I call my "Sonoma Coma" on the weekends. Both of us are so busy during the week with work and we were both out every night last week (ditto for this week) so weekends where there is no entertaining or houseguests on the agenda are terrific.
With all this lovely weather I decided to take my time going up on Friday - left the office around 4:30 and cut over to Stinson and took the Coast Highway home. The temps were cool but the skies were clear and the views unsurpassed. And to make things even nicer, Bob had a nice cold Cosmopolitan waiting for me at the bar when I walked in. Doesn't get better than that.
Worked out with Robert on Saturday. He knows I like variety with my workout so we spent the last half hour on the bike trail passing a 8lb. medicine ball back and forth to each other for the first half and on the way back we ran around each other and threw the ball over our head to the person behind us. Nice and stimulating. Spent the rest of the day reading outside.
The grounds are looking springy. The White Birch trees already have their new leaves and the big, shady Mulberry is starting to shed its stuff and pretty soon new leaves will appear. The Pines are also shedding crap so when we had a big windstorm on Saturday night the yard and pool were full of crap which took me a while to clean up on Sunday. The new lawn was laid last week. I love that look when it's nice and thick....like a furry man's chest! Spent part of the day on Sunday cleaning out the barn and punting a bunch of crap Bob thought worth saving - wrong!
Returned home on Sunday feeling rested and relaxed and definately NOT ready to go back to work.
